Graduation Party

Who is this guy? I think he was a party crasher...
This is my graduation cake made by my mother-in-law and a friend from church. It was so yummy!!
Here are friends and family enjoying the sun and my backyard.
Good friends of our Teresa and Jason who are talking with my husband Dave.
This is my other gradution cake. Isn't it cute? I thought it was very well done and such a surprise too.
My cousin Michelle and her family talking with me and my Dad in my backyard. I never did count how many guests but I'm sure we must have had about 60-75 people there. They neighbours commented on how 'large' our party was. I think they were glad it was during the afternoon and not into the evening.

Summer Fun

This is a shot of a cruise ship floating past the pier. It's on its way to Alaska.
Natalie, Eric (my cousin's children) and Dave after enjoying an ice cream cone on the pier.
I love this picture. Ryan and Eric playing in the sand at Saratoga Beach.

The Stanley Cup

The Stanley Cup came to Campbell River! To the left you can see hockey player Mike Commodore who is originally from Edmonton. He came with Rod Brindamour to CR with the Cup.
Rod Brindamour posing with the Stanley Cup. I remember going to elementary school with Rod back in the late '70s and early '80s. My memory of him was that he was a good track runner. I'm not a fan of hockey but I had to go and see the cup for myself since I may never get another opportunity. Who knows, maybe one day I'll be a hockey fan. Yeah, right!

Cap and Gown Day

Me, my family and my degree! Wow, I can't believe I finally have my Bachelor's degree and it's in science!! Read that Mr. Brown my grade 8 science teacher and weep =)
Me flashing my degree for all to see.

Pinning Ceremony

My nursing class at our rehearsal for the cap and gown ceremony. We are dressed up for our pinning ceremony which was taking place immediately after the rehearsal.
A couple of friends from my class. We had good times but it's nice to have graduated.
Me with my family. Ryan is not to happy to be posing as he has just sat through two hours of ceremony and wants to go home.
A couple more of my classmates.

Funny Photos from our Trip

This was such a fun photo to do. Here is our whole group dressed up in old time clothing. The kids all wanted an outfit where they could have a gun. My SIL wanted to be a 'bad/sleezy girl', my mom wanted to look like the matriarch and I wanted to be a 'good girl'. Top Row: me, my mom, my dad, my brother Peter. 2nd row: Dave, Ryan, Nicholas, and Kirk. Front row: Linda.
Lastly, my son desperately wanted to have this photo done as he is a big Star Wars fan. Ryan is Aniken, I'm in the middle as Padmae (don't I have great abs??), and Dave is Obi Wan Knobi. Sorry if I've flubbed on the spelling but I only enjoy watching the films not obsessing about them.
Dave taking a moment for a pose in California Land. It was a beautiful evening.
Ryan and Kirk posing with Chip and Dale after coming off the river raft ride.
The Excelerator at Knott's Berry Farm. I rode this a few times. The first time I screamed in sheer terror. One of the most frightening and exhilerating rides I've been on and I've been on many. It has approximately a 250 ft drop and as your coming down the highest hill you cannot see anything in front of you except the parking lot. The hill is so straight up and down that no matter where you sit you cannot see the track.
Ah, Vancouver sunset. This was captured just before we left on another plane to take us home.

Ryan having a friendly chat with the pirate captain. His advice was to be a good pirate by going home and kicking the dog and to remember to tear up the neighbours lawn.

Ryan and myself posing with a pirate from the Pirate's Dinner.

Below is Kirk and Nicholas with Spiderman.

A picture of my sister-in-law Linda enjoying her birthday dinner from Tony Roma's. Her son, Kirk is in the background.

Dumbo! I'm in the elephant above with Ryan. I took the picture looking down on Linda and Nick and then below then in the yellow dumbo is Peter and Kirk. The kids loved being able to control the height of Dumbo. It was a great place to get aerial views too.

More Vacation Photos

This is a picture of Ryan attempting to lift a 'cartoon' weight. Toontown is a lot of fun for kids and is one of the area attractions in Disneyland. It is located next to "It's a Small World". You can visit Mickey's, Minnie, and Goofy's house. As well as ride a kids size roller coaster and go on Roger Rabbit's Crazy Ride or something like that. There are lots of interactive stuff too like a jail with rubber bars, a door that makes an explosion sound when you open it, etc.

Next is a picture taken at Legoland in Carlsbad, CA. This is a ride where you have to pull on the rope to pull your seat up to the top of the tower which was about two stories high. In Carlsbad, there was an awesome shopping outlet. I got a load of stuff really cheap, oops I mean inexpensive.

Disneyland!!!!

We are back from our 12 day trip to Disneyland. It was so much fun. Our group consisted of myself, Dave, Ryan, my parents, my brother Peter, his wife Linda and their two children Kirk and Nicholas. The first picture is of Ryan and Kirk on our first day in Disneyland. It rained a light mist on our first morning but everyday after that was a scorcher.

This is us on the jungle ride. Nicholas, Ryan (in the green hat), Kirk, Peter, and my Mom. This is still our first day at Disneyland. The kids were so much fun to watch.

Here is Ryan (in the middle) trying to pull the jail bars out of the way so he can break out. My is he strong! Nicholas is in the background to the left and Kirk is on the outside watching Ryan.

Welcome to my first Blog

I've never blogged before but I've been invited to read other peoples many times and so I figured it's about time I started one too. I have time to do a blog now that I'm finished with school. Your looking at (or rather looking at my words) a woman with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Fancy that?! This is a person who said in high school she would never go to college/university. I've even got a job at public health, which I love!

So what is new with the Huttons? Well, Ryan is about to finish grade 6 and next year will be off to middle school. He is still in karate and currently has his blue belt. Dave is still working at the mill but also does ski patrol in the winter (which gives the family a free season's pass--yippee!) and volunteering with the fire department all year round. I have recently started taking fiddle/vi
olin lessons and can play about six songs now. Our whole family is off to Disneyland in two weeks time and we are going with my parents, my brother Peter, his wife and kids. It's going to be great fun. We also adopted two kitties after our beloved cat Sabre died just before Christmas.
